Student Services

Our Student Services team provides support for the social, emotional and educational wellbeing of all students. The ultimate goal of the Student Services team is to help students reach their full potential through a wide variety of support staff and structures as well as positive pastoral care programs and reward initiatives to recognise student achievement, attendance and good behaviour.

The team consists of Deputy Principals, Head of Student Services, a Chaplain, School Psychologist, Attendance Coordinator and Student Support Coordinators.

At Safety Bay Senior High School, we are committed to the education and development of your child. In order to support students and their families through the high school years, we have developed an innovative Student Services team to meet their needs.

The new student services structure, which has developed specialist teams to support students and families through behaviour, attendance, social and emotional, and learning, is known as BASEL. This model offers numerous benefits for both students and families.

  • Focused Support
  • Improved Outcomes
  • Enhanced Communication
  • Better Coordination
  • Increased Accessibility
  • Professional Development

By adopting the BASEL model, our school can provide a more comprehensive and effective approach to student support, ensuring that students and families have access to the resources and services they need to succeed. This will ultimately lead to improved outcomes and a more positive school experience for all.

School Psychologist

The School Psychologist assists in improving educational outcomes for our students by providing specialist support in the areas of counselling, learning and behaviour management.

Students wishing to seek support in problem-solving issues may access the School Psychologist directly by making an appointment. Teachers or parents with school-related concerns regarding a student please contact Student Services to discuss referral to the service and/or participate in a collaborative planning meeting to address any concerns.

All contacts with the School Psychologist are treated confidentially unless the person agrees to involve others, or a life-threatening or child protection situation is disclosed.
