Special Music Program

 

The Special Music Program aims to nurture and develop students passion for music with a focus on individual and group music lessons.

If you have been learning an instrument in Primary School through the Department of Education’s Instrumental Music Program then this is the program for you.

We also encourage students who want to begin their musical journey to apply for the program.

 

 

Register Interest

Students from year levels 7-10 are encouraged to trial for a place in our Special Music Program. Register below and you will be contacted to arrange an individual trial.

Program Selection

Selection trials for current Year 6’s looking to become apart of our program for the following year are held once annually. Registrations are essential to confirm your place at the trials.

Instrumental Lessons

Students either commence or continue learning Classical Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba or Percussion with a commitment to learning the instrument at least until the end of Year 10.

Classroom Music

Classroom music lessons allows students to appreciate the creativity and performance of a diversity of musical styles.

Students develop practical musical skills on keyboard, guitar, percussion and voice.

Students learn to read and use the language of music, and utilise technology in the development, recording and performance of their own compositions, arrangements and songs.

Concert Band or Guitar Ensemble

Band or ensemble enhances performance and group playing skills.

Weekly rehearsals are held after school for all instrumental students who have attained the required level of playing.

Performances are given at various times throughout the year.

Vocal Ensemble

Students’ essential musical skills such as inner hearing and singing in tune are developed through participation in the vocal ensemble.

This is an optional component offered to all students interested in continuing group singing.
