This year’s ANZAC Day will be unlike any other and although we can’t commemorate together, let’s take a moment to pause and acknowledge the sacrifices of our servicemen and women.

To help our families commemorate we created a little video of previous ANZAC and Remembrance Day ceremonies over the years, complete with a rendition of the Last Post, the Ode of Remembrance, followed by the Rouse.

Thank you to our very talented Special Music Program Coordinator, Ashlea Reale for her bugle playing skills on the performing both the ‘Last Post’ and ‘Rouse’ for you to listen to at home.

You might also like to follow along with the ABC’s live coverage of the Dawn Service at the National War Memorial in Canberra. The RSL and the WA Government have also joined forces to encourage people to join in the Driveway Dawn Service, to stand united for those who have served our country.

Two of our wonderful HASS teachers, Mr Magowan and Mrs Curtis have found some ANZAC Day activities for you to do at home with the kids.

Plus, have a listen and sing along to the following songs to help you and your family reflect on the ANZAC experience across the years.

Have a look at the lyrics to And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda by Eric Bogle to sing along with this rendition of the song from John Williamson.

And here’s the lyrics to I Was Only 19 by Redgum for you to sing along at home. How will you be commemorating ANZAC Day this year?
